RESIDENCE – 17 HUNDRED 90 INN

Location: 1140 Royal St, New Orleans, LA 70116, United States

Small Description: The 17 Hundred 90 Inn located in New Orleans is the oldest inn in Savannah. The building was originally 3 separate complexes that burned down in 1820, which were rebuilt as one building in 1821.

It is said that it was named 17 Hundred 90 Inn since 1820 was a bad year for Savannah. In 1820, two thirds of the city was destroyed by fire, and there was a yellow fever epidemic that devastated the population.

Ghost Story: There are apparently 3 ghosts that haunt the 17 Hundred 90 Inn. Room 204 is said to be where the most haunted activity is. Many people that have stayed here have said to leave during the night. To add to the creepiness a mannequin stands looking out the stop story window.

The ghost that is said to haunt Room 204 is named Anne. Items around the room have said to be re-arranged and also disembodied voices including sobbing have said to be heard. A dark shadow is said to stand in the dark shadows of the room.

A waiter that worked at the 17 Hundred 90 Inn one day was collecting milk cards when all of a sudden he felt nervous. A cold temperature then added to the atmosphere making the waiter very uncomfortable. He could tell something was about to happen. Before he could leave, he was picked up around 6 inches and then dropped back to the ground. This was enough to make him run down the stairs and leave the property. Months later The Travel Channel wanted to interview the waiter in Room 204 for a TV program. This was more difficult than they realised. The room did not allow the waiter into the room. He physically couldn’t walk into the room as it felt he was being pushed back.

I’ve always been a fan of pubs, especially when I saw photos of the ones in the United Kingdom. There’s just something about them with the old creaky flooring and low-beamed roofs. The cobble stone roads that lead up to the front door and the coziness of the fire burning in the winter times. There is a lot of history behind each pub. Most have been around for at the least 100 years. […]
